AlphaBeta Business: Broadening the Frontiers
Chinedum Aforonwa
Alpha Beta is an international business quarterly published by Sule and Abu Publishing Ltd in association with Al Mughtareb, Lebanon. Simon Njoku is the editor-in-chief.
The edition in review, Vol. 1(October – December 2009), focuses on Nigerian businesses both local and in diaspora. It also contains articles on Lebanon and Ghana, as well as other international businesses. Other topics include: IT, tourism, agriculture, property, travel & leisure, industry, social and religious issues.
The Cover Stories – Why Investors Favour Ghana over Nigeria and Boko Haram: Who Watches over Mosques, Churches? – are extensively investigated and shrewdly analyzed, a quality which run through the magazine. These stories are followed up with historical treatise and modern developments that enhance the reader’s understanding of the issues. Remembering Icons pays tribute to Nigeria’s Gani Fawehinmi, US Senator Edward Kennedy and Iraq’s Abdul-Aziz Al-Hakim, all notable public figures who passed away in 2009.
To the discerning businessman, Alpha Beta primarily seeks to promote bilateral business relations between Nigeria and Lebanon. It will appeal to both indigenous and expatriate tastes particularly with the in-depth and engaging discourse as well as clear, well set photography. However, more attention should be paid to editing as there were evident errors of omission.
In all, the glossy 82-page read is geared to further broaden the frontiers of international business in the country.
