Vendors Take Over Book Sales
The trend of book stores dominating in the sale of books is fast changing. Book vendors are now seen all everywhere.
Speaking on this, a vendor at Idiroko who identified himself as Aje, says, “it is not as if selling specialized books brings much profit, but you use it to draw attention for other things you are selling, and once they know you are selling such, they will definitely come to you.
Conversely, another vendor along Ojota road in response would want to know if there is any law in the land on the sale of books. Pauline Adegbite, a lady whom M2 patronizing one of the vendors under the Ikeja bridge, volunteers that she prefers buying books under the bridge instead of buying them in the bookstores because they are cheaper.
According to Adegbite, “the normal bookshops would have calculated their shop rent and their air conditioner costs alongside these books, thereby making them expensive.
M2′s findings reveal that the bulk of the books on sale by the vendors like pirated ones.
