NUJ Celebrates Multi-landmarks in Press Week

Come May 2010, the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Lagos State Council will hold its annual Press Week tagged “Nigeria at 50: How has the Media Fared?”
The week long event is uniquely planned to mark 150 years of journalism practice in Nigeria, the 55th anniversary of the NUJ and 50 years of Nigeria’s independence. Celebrations will kick-off with a lecture by Mallam Lamido Sanusi, governor of the Central Bank, who will be speaking on “Strengthening the Nigerian Financial Services Sector for Economic Growth and Best Practices in Corporate Governance.”
Other programmes slated for the Week include: free health checks at the Ladi Lawal Press Centre, thanksgiving service at the Chapel of Christ the Light and Jumat prayers at the Alausa Central Mosque, fund raising and awards dinner, and a renaming of the NUJ Light House.
Top Nigerian artistes such as Sunny Neji, Seun Kuti and the Mo Hits Crew are billed to perform at the grand finale – a musical jamboree at The Blue Roof, LTV premises, Agidingbi, Ikeja, Lagos.
