Mass Exodus of Staff from Next Newspaper

Following disciplinary actions taken on some staff of Next Newspaper, close to thirty members of staff have been relieved of their jobs.
M2 gathered that some staff members were found to have breached some rules and regulations of the media house which eventually led to their dismissal. In a chat with a staff of the newspaper who craved anonymity, he said “the management found out that some of our staff had plagiarized some other people’s work from the internet and presented it as their own. We have a standard and it is based on the breach of this standard that the management decided to relieve them of their jobs.”
He further added that some other staff voluntarily resigned mostly for personal reasons. “Some other staff, as obtainable in other companies, decided to leave for greener pastures or to take up assignments in other places.”
Next Newspaper, which is published by Timbuktu Media, began operations in 2009.
