HiTV Rewards Information on Piracy

In order to ensure that viewing centres comply fully with the directive given to them by HiTV, the pay-TV service provider has initiated a reward system for anybody who reports an unauthorized viewing centre, restaurant or hotel.

On the reason for this course of action, Kemi Fashina, Brand/Marketing Manager, HiTV, points out that some viewing centres and hotels have complied to the directive while some are yet to do so. She further explains that anyone who reports an unauthorized viewing centre or hotel will be rewarded with a sum of N5, 000, provided the report leads to the arrest and subsequent prosecution of the defaulter. The informant who’s identity would be kept confidential, can send the name and address of the defaulting viewing centre via SMS to a short code and alternatively via e-mail.

The Pay-TV Company, which has consistently defended its position on the introduction of commercial bouquets for viewing centers, hotels and club houses, first announced that all viewing centers, cafes and restaurants will be required to pay a monthly subscription fee of N15, 000 on the 1st of July 2009.
