Glo Plans To Revolutionise Telecoms in Ivory Coast
Martins Okoh-
Globacom says it will revolutionise telecommunication services in Cote
d’Ivoire and help transform the economy of the country.
Speaking on the operating licence granted the network in Cote d’Ivoire
recently, Group Chief Operating Officer (GCOO), Mohamed Jameel, said
Globacom would replicate in the francophone country, its Nigeria and
Benin Republic success stories. This, he stated, would be achieved by
deploying the best technology and human resources.
The telecom licence which was conveyed to Globacom through the Agence des Telecommunications de Cote d’Ivoire, the telecommunication regulatory authority of Cote d’Ivoire, enables Globacom to take advantage of its trans-Atlantic submarine cable, Glo 1, which has a branching point in Cote d’Ivoire.
Jameel stated that with the development, Globacom would avail Ivoriens
the opportunity to be part of the telecommunications revolution which
the network is bringing to Africa.
Commenting on the new licence last week, Globacom’s Group Executive Director, Paddy Adenuga, said it gives impetus to the network’s desire to provide the needed opportunity for West African countries and the whole of Africa to leap forward economically through an excellent communication network and cost-effective voice, data, video and e-commerce services.
“In line with our vision, we are building a network that will provide
the most comprehensive international communication services on the
continent to bridge the digital divide between Africa and the rest of the world,” Adenuga stated.
