Toilet Tissue Market: How ‘Bolus Gained Dominance
M2 market survey on toilet tissue papers last week confirms the leadership of the Bolus brand of toilet tissue paper. The investigation also reveals how Bolus achieved their dominance in that category.
An expert in the tissue paper business, Engr. Abu Andrew, offers an explanation to M2. According to him the toilet rolls used in homes, hotels and offices are made from Jumbo Tissue produced from waste papers. Its production involves enormous finances and machinery, and, as such, many producers of tissue papers could not afford it.
Bolus, he says, was the first major producer of this Jumbo Tissue while the others had to depend on them. Hence it had an edge over the other producers, producing more at cheaper rate compared to the competitors. The competitors gradually withdrew as the arrangement did not favour their operations, thereby creating more market for Bolus who aggressively pushed its brands into the market, extending existing brands and creating more to fill up the space.
M2 investigations, however, reveal that the trend appears to have changed as other quality brands have invaded the markets and are already giving the Bolus brand a run for their money. Among these brands are Robust, Crown kingsize, Gallaxi de luxe, Adosteno, Star etc.
