Special, Loy, Others Take Over Rice Market

Other rice brands are fast taking over the market as some of the popular Stallion Brands owned by The Vaswani Brothers have become very scarce while some are completely absent in the market. This was the outcome of M2′s market investigation on Rice brands in various local markets last week.

M2 gathered that most of Stallion brands are no longer in the market except Caprice, which the dealers said is very scarce. The rice dealers, who spoke to M2, however, advised the consumers of Caprice to exercise caution when buying what they may see as Caprice, as some of them are other brands simply packaged in Caprice sack.

At the Agege market, M2 noted that some shops had none of the Stallion brands. This was the case with a rice dealer whose shop had Stallion logo painted on its wall but had other rice brands in stock. Asked why, he simply said that Stallion brands are no longer available. He had in stock brands such as Loy, Ted and Texas Star rice, all from the stable of The Rice Master’s Choice, which he said are enjoying good patronage as they measure up to the Stallion brands.

In other locations such as Ikeja, Ipaja, Agege, and even Alaba Alago in Ojo LGA, sellers voted ‘Special Rice’ as the preferred brand among restaurant and food joint operators who find it better and more economical for their business.

Other brands in the markets now are Super Aroso, Tomato Aroso, Host, Rising Sun, Magic Rice etc.
