Skilled Labour Poses Challenge For Signage Industry

The absence of skilled labour has been attributed as one the peculiar problems facing the signage industry. According to the Head of Marketing, Light Level Ltd, Okwuoma Onwuanyi, the non existence of a well structured institution for sign making has left the signage industry at the mercy of artisans who parade themselves as professional sign makers. However, at Light Level Ltd, the problem is being taken care of, she says. “We have a training school yet to be registered where a structure has been put in place to develop and spread skills not just for our company but also for the entire industry.”
On why much is not known about the signage industry in this part of the world, she explains that the Sign and Graphics Association of Nigeria (TSGAN), the mouthpiece of the industry is just evolving, adding that as soon as it does the industry popularity will be felt.
