Premier Antiseptic Soap stepping up in the Race

M2 survey of the antiseptic soap market to ascertain the performance of Premier Antiseptic Soap introduced into the market some months back by PZ Cussons Plc, last week, reveals that the soap is fast appealing to consumers.

Some of its sellers, mostly retailers, who spoke to M2, were almost unanimous in their positive appraisal of the new antiseptic brand. M2 observed that the product had a good shelf presence in most of the markets visited.

At Oke-Arin market in Lagos Island, one Madam Aduke says, “It is moving,” adding that she had already sold a carton that she bought two weeks before. At Iyana-Ipaja another retailer, Kelechi Samuel, while commending its performance, remarks: “Before, I wasn’t stocking it. But when people continued to ask for it, I had to buy it and it’s been moving.” One Miss Uchechukwu, a trader at Ikotu Market notes that the new brand is “trying, being a new product,” adding, however, that the other Premier soaps still sell faster.

However, at Agege, M2 observed that the product lacked good shelf presence. One Mr. Allwell was rather blunt when asked to rate the antiseptic soap’s performance. “Let’s say 10%,” he quips, adding that patronage for it is quite low over there. A roll of six tablets of the new soap sells between N200 and N300 while a tablet sells between N40 and N50 depending on the location.
