NCC Celebrates 20 Years, Rewards Copyright Essay Competition Winner

As part of its efforts to create intellectual property (IP) awareness and the culture of respect for creativity among the citizenry, the Nigerian Copyright Commission has announced the result of the National Copyright Essay Competition it organised as part of its activities to mark the commission’s 20th anniversary.
The essay competition which was tagged “Protecting Creativity for National Development”, saw Master Oyebamiji Tunde Abdul-Fawas, an SS 2 student of GOF International College, Oshogbo, Osun State, in the first position, while Master Anyasso Jedidiah Kelechi, an SS3 student of International Secondary School, Rivers State and Miss Adewale Ruth, an SS3 student of Adesina College, Ibadan were adjudged as the 1st and 2nd runners-up respectively.
Mr. Charles Olisaeloka Obi, the commission’s Director of Public Affairs, who made the announcement on behalf of the Director General, indicated that the presentation of the awards would hold at the Commission’s Anniversary Gala Nite scheduled to take place on the 1st of September, 2009 at the NICON Luxury Abuja.
The Commission’s Anniversary Lecture, will be delivered by the Director General of World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), Geneva at 9:30am, same day, at the NICON Luxury Abuja.
