Future Brands Club (FBC), an initiative of Thots and Works a total communications packaging consultancy penultimate weekend held its 3rd quarterly brand forum for SME business owners.
The forum themed “Who Needs a Brand Anyway?”, had business owners from various fields in attendance.
During the interactive session facilitated by Yinka Padonu, a senior research reporter with Success Digest and Olumide Odewole, a business consultant, participants had the chance to share their experiences in business and offer constructive advise.
Oluwaseun Ogunleye, principal consultant, Thots and Works, says the forum serves as a platform to bring together SMEs in Nigeria and have them learn about the benefits of branding their business. “It is time we started harping on the need for SMEs to engage in branding because this is the only way our economy can grow. We cannot afford to continue doing faceless business; I mean we have the world to compete with. How do we effectively standout of the lot if we don’t brand?” she remarks.
Speaking with M2, some of the participants commended the organizers for putting up the programme describing it as an eye opener. According to them until now they were not well informed on the impact of branding on their businesses. “Before now I used to think branding was too expensive and immaterial to my kind of business, but having listened to the facilitators today I have no doubt that if I have to stand out and make it real big, then I must start thinking branding,” Babalola Olasupo, an Estate Surveyor says.
