FIRS Advices Women Entrepreneurs to Pay Tax
Women Entrepreneurs have been advised to take up the challenges of tax payment if they want to be seen as responsible business managers. This advice was given at a two-day strategic workshop for Women organized by the Institute of Entrepreneurs Nigeria (IEN).
Speaking on the theme ‘Taxation: Guiding the Women Entrepreneurs, Start ups owners and Managers’, the Coordinating Director (Compliance and Enforcement Group), FIRS, Dr Teju Somorin, says, “there are so many benefits derived from tax payment, one of which is, being able to obtain a Tax Compliance Certificate(TCC) from Tax institutions without stress. According to her, there are tax incentives which people are not aware of. “People are not aware of tax incentives. Some kinds of income are exempted from tax; we are making effort to amend the personal income tax, so as to create more incentives for start ups.”
The Executive Secretary, IEN, Rotimi Oladele, on her part, says the workshop was organized to enlighten Women Entrepreneurs on tax payment and help them avoid tax multiplicity. “There is a need to encourage and support Women Entrepreneurs; this is why we have looked at the peculiar challenges they might be facing.
