Fashola To Harness Badagry’s Potential for Tourism

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, recently declared that his administration is committed to repositioning Badagry to its proper historic, cultural and economic significance in order to fully exploit its tourism potentials. The governor, who recently took a familiarization tour through Badagry, lamented that in spite of its rich historic, cultural and natural assets, the area is not well promoted. He stated that the fact that Badagry houses one of busiest Trans-Atlantic slave trade ports in West Africa which attracts large number of people will provide different types of business opportunities for different sectors in the economy of the state if well harnessed.
The governor also commented on the plan to boost the economy of the state by astutely making use of the state resources. The state is now investing in the distribution of power till the federal government concludes the privatization of the nation energy sector. The project is being handled by Elsewedy Electric Nigeria Ltd., an Egyptian-owned Nigerian company that manufactures electric transformers, poles and meters needed for the transmission of power.
“This is one of the projects here in Badagry and will subsequent help to improve the working environment to support business growth and harness tourism potentials.”
