Domino Eateries Yet To Implement Consumption Tax
Domino fast foods, an extension of Domino Stores Ltd, located at Sabo, Lagos State, is yet to start implementing the 5 per cent tax stipulated by the Lagos State government on consumption of food and services at events centres, hotels and eateries.
According to a source at Domino Stores Ltd, Mrs S Adeboye, the eatery’s non adherence to the law is as a result of the position of the Association of Fast Food Confectionaries of Nigeria (AFFCON) on the consumption tax which is being contended in the law court: “We have not started implementing the 5 percent tax on consumption, because the case is still in court. The Association of Fast Food confectionaries of Nigeria (AFFCON) have opposed the law and have taken the case to court and until we hear the court ruling on the case we cannot implement it on our services.”
Reacting to the report that some eateries have started implementing the said law, claiming that they would find a way to disburse the monies back to the consumers if eventually the court rules in favour of AFFCON, Mrs Adeboye says she is not aware of this latest development, adding that Domino would also toe the line if she confirms the authenticity of the report from the association’s secretary.
