Close Up ‘Brush Day+Night Campaign to the Rescue
THE Close Up ‘Brush day+night’ campaign is embarked upon to combat the increase in tooth decay in Nigeria. This was disclosed by the Category Manager, Oral Care, Unilever Plc., Mrs. Odili Onome, during a media interactive session at Hotel 1960 in Ikeja, penultimate Friday.
Speaking at the event, Mrs. Odili said that dentists have discovered that the incidence of tooth decay which was relatively alien to Nigerian is now on the increase as a result of a shift towards western food culture.
She said that Close Up, which works closely with both the FDI World Dental Federation and Nigeria Dental Association (NDA), has embarked on the campaign to combat this upsurge by encouraging adults and children to brush twice a day using recommended toothpastes and toothbrushes to reduce the incidences of tooth decay and gum disease.
Fielding questions from the press, Mrs. Odili explained that Close Up, which has been a brand since 1975 is endorsed by the NDA, an affiliate of FDI, which recognizes that brushing with a fluoride toothpaste like Close Up is beneficial to oral health. This according to her makes Close Up the only toothpaste in Nigeria with such recognition.
