First Bank Plc, one of Africa’s leading banks and winner of the IT leadership award 2009, recently migrated its messaging and collaboration infrastructure to Microsoft Exchange 2007. This initiative is geared towards improving employee productivity, customer responsiveness, and risk management capabilities. Mr. Rasheed Adegoke, Head of Information Technology at First Bank says, “we want to improve the performance of the messaging infrastructure from two perspectives – user experience and integration to other applications, and so far, we have significantly achieved the two objectives.”

According to him, employees have unanimously given a feedback that the Outlook Client is much easier to use, and there has also been a subsequent improvement in the response time of staff since the migration to Active Synch.

The Manager for Microsoft Nigeria commends this innovative step by saying “I believe information technology can play an important role in helping companies respond to this difficult and rapidly changing economic environment.” He adds that organizations that take advantage of these trends will retain an important competitive advantage now and in future.

According to the Project Manager at Microsoft, June Anasiudu, the First Bank Project is one of the largest migrations to Microsoft Exchange.
