Energy Drinks: Red Bull Inches Closer to the Top
Last week’s M2 weekly open market survey reveals that Red Bull energy drink is gradually inching to take over that segment of the open market.
According to traders who spoke to M2, Power Horse is said to be the first to hit the Nigerian market and by extension the market leader, but in recent times patronage has greatly favoured Red Bull.
A few traders went as far as insisting that Red Bull is stronger than Power Horse. That, they say, is one of the reasons why it is fast gaining dominance over the others. Mr. Segun Adebowale, a trader at Alade market is one of those who believe that Red Bull is better than Power Horse. His words: “Apart from the price, I have taken the two energy drinks and I can tell you that Red Bull is stronger and that is why, I believe people are patronizing it more these days.”
At Agege market Mr Princewill Ibe however differed in his opinion. According to Mr Ibe, “Well that is what people say (that Red Bull is gaining an upper hand), but I believe that Power Horse is still very much relevant and may remain so in a long time to come. I don’t see Red Bull taking that position soon.”
The survey also shows that the energy drink market is awash with assorted brands as if Nigerians depend on them for daily strength.
