Carnation Gains More Shelf Presence
M2 open market survey reveals that Carnation, the returnee evaporated milk brand on the stables of Nestle Nig Plc, is gradually gaining more shelf presence in markets within Lagos. The survey observes an increased footing in such locations as Ojota, Mushin and Agege among others.
However, traders who spoke to M2 disclose that patronage for the milk brand is yet to pick up. At Ojuwoye Market, Jumobi, a trader, says a dozen tins sell at N580 while at Ojota, a roadside trader sells at N70 per tin.
A reliable source informs M2 that Carnation is yet to be officially relaunched as Nestle is taking its time to get things right. But this situation, market watchers say, could also be responsible for the poor circulation.
Carnation will be competing for market share with such evaporated brands as Coast milk, Nunu, Luna and Olympic among others.
