Ovation Celebrates Segun Arinze’s Reign as AGM’s New President
Ovation International Magazine, penultimate weekend, organized a small get together at the Lagos Oriental Hotel, VI, Lagos to celebrate Segun Arinze Aina-Padonou’s recent emergence as President of the Actor’s Guild of Nigeria (AGN).
Not minding agitations from different quarters over the circumstances that produced him as the new president of AGN, in an election held recently in Port Harcourt, actor Segun Arinze, at the reception, says the next thing for him to do is to take AGM to the next level.
“I intend to talk less and do more work. My team and I want our work to speak for us. And we will deliberately reach out and extend hands of friendship to everyone that can assist us achieve a coalition of progress, a coalition of the willing,” he says
The notable actor, whose emergence as the AGN head came to many as a surprise, is of the opinion that the crisis rocking the guild over the years has caused a lot of damages to the body as a group and to individual practitioners.
“In the next couple of days we will bring peace into AGM. I stand for professionalism. We are not politicians; our job is to do entertainment and make a living from it,” he adds.
Matthew Unmanko of NTA, who was also at the reception, congratulated Arinze on behalf of the press “I wish him the best on his new reign as the president of AGM,” he says.
Kate Effiong Okunu, an actress sang the praises of Segun, saying “the Segun I know will take AGM to places; he will not make most actors and actress suffer the way they are suffering now. He will be able to bring peace between the marketers and censors board.”
