BON Awards Holds Soon
The president of the Association of Movie Reporters Guild of Nigeria, Mr Azuh Amatus, has declared his full support for the upcoming Nollywood Awards scheduled to hold for December 6th 2009. He made the declaration during the Nominee party Best of Nollywood Awards held penultimate weekend, in preparation for the main event which will take at place at Martinos Hotel and Halls come Saturday, December 6. The awards, he said, will encourage people to come up with better movies and thus improve the industry standards.
The Nominee party phase of the movie awards was held to host and inform nominees on the processes involved in winning the coveted awards. The event was tagged “desire nothing more”and it had on its attendance Omoni Oboli, Funke Akindele, Laide Bakare, Ayo Mogaji, Ayo Badmus, Ireti Osayemi, Bimbo Thomas, Kunle Afolayan, Lasun Ray, Foluke Daramola, Funso Adeolu, and Lala and many more.
The nominated movie journalists are Benjamin Njoku, Victor Akande and Tade Afisat.
Arrangements for the main event, where the best brains in the Nigerian entertainment industry will gather to crown the best performers for 2009 in the movie industry, have almost been concluded.
Sponsors of the programme include The Ogun State Government, Skye Bank, Quatar Airlines, and the comedy icon, Ali Baba. The Ogun State Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel is expected to be the special guest of honour at the event.
