B-Elect Brings It Hot with Banginz
B-Elect (Real Names: Bright Andrew Igho), a member of Nigeria’s foremost rap crew, Thoroughbreds, has certainly not been taking things easy in recent times. Determined to take centre stage in the Nigeria rap game, the tall and amiable rapper has dropped a sizzling hot single titled Banginz. As you read this piece, the song Banginz is generating so much heat on radio waves around the country. But no one is surprised at all. As co-founder of Thoroughbreds, along with Ill Bliss a.k.a That Ibo Boy, B-Elect has been involved in hip hop since his days as a kid in the late eighties and in the nineties, during his university days. He can be said to be one of the most versed individuals in Nigeria when it comes to the rap game and its culture.
He got interested in hiphop listening to acts like LL Cool J, Malcom Maclleren & World Supreme Team, and Rakim.
The rapper writes for various hiphop magazines and has spoken at numerous hip hop forums. Along with Thoroughbreds, he has also performed at several gigs.
Presently working in the advertising sector, the artiste still finds time to run his label and studio, Blightz Records, which, last year, released its first artiste, Protek, with the album ‘Zion Republican’ produced by Jonah the Monarch.
B-elect, along with his crew Thoroughbreds, won two awards in 2006 – Best Rap Song at the AMEN Awards and Best Rap Video at the Hiphop World Awards.
While the video of Banginz will be droping later this month, B-elect’s full album of 21 tracks, featuring the likes of Illbliss, Ruffman, Zidon Paporella, Obiwon, M-trill, P Will, J martins and N.gga raw and produced by the likes of Buttah, Micworks, B-elect and M.D Flow under his Label Blightz Records, will be dropping in November. The album will be marketed by Iyke the Don.
