WOW! Another Innovation?
It is not everyday that one wakes up to find a new magazine on the news stands. If and when you find one, you try to see what differentiates it from the others which have been pushed in your face by vendors. It is while trying to make a decision that you find the one that interests you and then you finally get addicted to it.
But that is not exactly the case with WOW! Magazine. On the news stands it will take a colour blind person not to notice its imposing features that seem to scream at the visitor to the news stand. Its large size, large fonts and large pictures all combine to distinguish the 46 page magazine, making it easy to handle and easy to read. Published by WOW Media Concept, WOW! is edited by Julie Odia.
The magazine which is in the sixth edition of its first volume will definitely appeal to youths, the young at heart and the upwardly mobile executive who want to keep tab on fashion and lifestyle trends. With columns touching several aspects of fashion, beauty and travel, one will not be wrong to grab a copy for a leisure read.
The most interesting column is the cover interview which has about 4 pages dedicated to pictures and detailed interview session with top notch celebrities in the society. The edition under review has top Nigerian actor, Ramsey Noah on its cover.
Some of the other columns include, Fashion Rehab which tries to right the wrong on dressing issues, the Travel section which is a tourist delight and the Chill Out section which features choice restaurants, bars, lounges and places for relaxation. Others are columns on best dressed, the agbero blog, dear diary, style watch, health, international celebrity news and WOW personality.
Having scanned through all the pages of the magazine, one will not be wrong to say the contents work well with the WOW! slogan which reads “…the world at your feet” .
In general, the WOW! Magazine will pass for an innovative introduction to the over-populated lifestyle magazine segment, well designed and planned with exquisite pictures and good finishing on gloss.
However, one will wonder what will become of the leaflets, which are very soft, after a few days’ rough handling that it is bound to receive during the hustle and bustle of the Lagos metropolis.
